Hiking a the Punchbowl, Oregon

The Punchbowl is one of many waterfall hikes in Oregon.

The main waterfall on the hike is 35 feet tall and 10 feet wide and truely something to behold. This was my second time hiking there, the first time a friend had jumped off the highest part of the surrounding cliffs (80 feet) into the pool below and damaged his knees, partly because the jump was way too high and also because he jumped incorrectly, locking his knees as he hit the water. In fact injuries are common here and EMT’s are known to frequent the swimming spot at least a dozen times a summer, so be aware when swimming that getting to the water by jumping, although the fastest way isn’t always the best if your not experienced.

Punch Bowl is reachable from the popular Eagle Creek hiking trail. From I-84, take Exit 41. Follow the meandering road to the parking lot. There are two paths. Take the one that goes directly away from the parking lot, toward the south.

This waterfall was responsible for the waterfall classification type of punchbowl.
